Where it all started:

Founded in the 1940' s by David Jacobi, our company started out as a hardware store. During the 1950' s French Lewis, a salesman for a hardware distributor, decided to join the company and moved his family from Elizabethtown, NC. Within a few years the partners decided to change the focus of the business. There just wasn't anybody selling restaurant equipment in the area and David and French saw a need for it. By the 1960' s the only general hardware being sold was paint. " That was a mistake." Recalls Greg Lewis, President of Jacobi-Lewis. " There was all of the mixing and the mess. And if I didn't get the top on just right, I spent the rest of the day cleaning up my mistake."

Greg Lewis started working at Jacobi-Lewis in the fabrication division, making counters, shelves and other metal products. From there he moved into sales- calling on schools, restaurants, stores, military posts and other prospective clients. The sales experience has enabled Greg to help others choose what they really need for their kitchens. " We can' t sell you a steamer and expect you to cook bacon and eggs in it." comments Greg.
